Our hosted MCP server is now open to everyone. Add it to your AI agent of choice and build BPMN diagrams together. Read more in the documentation.

The SpiffWorks MCP Server

  • Works with your agent. Build BPMN processes with Claude, ChatGPT Desktop, and many others.
  • Works with the Visual Design Studio. Enterprise customers can watch the AI's edits, run the diagram, and make their own changes as they go.
  • Knows your connectors. Build your own connectors, and your AI will use them in your service tasks.
  • Records and tests. Save recordings of your workflows and turn them into automated tests.
  • Debugs itself. Run a workflow locally and feed the results back to your agent. It finds the problem and improves the diagram.
  • Keeps your data at home. Everything runs locally. Your BPMN files never reach our servers, and we never connect to your systems.

The server can also use BPMN to guide a chat conversation.

SpiffArena

  • Faster loading. Sub-processes and call activities load on demand.
  • Reliable messages. Incoming messages no longer deadlock, and message events work across parallel call activities.
  • Message reports. Expired messages are tracked with their TTL and cause of failure. Filter on them to find problems fast.
  • Message validation. JSON Schema checks catch malformed data before it reaches a waiting process.
  • Clear replies. A message sent to a finished callback gets a polite note that the process has moved on.
  • Easier message authoring. Defining messages in Arena and bpmn-js-spiffworkflow takes fewer steps.
  • Missing models. Terminate a process even when its model is gone.
  • Localization. European number and date formats display correctly.
  • Cleaner logs. Production logs carry less noise and are easier to search.

Analytics

  • Faster queries for common requests.
  • Correct counts when you drill into call activities and task lists.
  • Larger exports. Compression, size limits, longer timeouts, and a loading indicator.
  • New filter for instances by termination status.
  • Automated accessibility tests for the Analytics interface.
  • Cleaner layout and simpler navigation.

Visual Design Studio

  • Touchscreen support. View, run, and edit diagrams from a tablet.
  • Message authoring. Message definitions, correlation keys, and task references are easier to manage.
  • Jump Here. Return to an earlier step in a running process.
  • Side panel. Clear icons make navigation quicker.
  • Nested call activities work more smoothly.
  • Stable tests. In-browser tests are timed and stopped before they run away.

File Store

Import nested process groups, child process groups, and individual models.

Security

  • Reviewed and updated certifications across services.
  • Updated dependencies.
  • Hardened file upload links.
  • Limited the process instance details available through the API.

Moving to Quarterly Updates

Over the next few months we will focus on consulting, so we will have fewer features to announce. This newsletter will now arrive once a quarter. Reach out if you need support with the library or want to build a new BPMN project with us.
