October 2026

October 01, 2026

Our mission is to be the fastest way to improve your organization's workflows. Our efforts in September reflect this mission. We are improving analytics, so you get immediate, high-quality feedback. We are enhancing collaboration, so everyone can make positive contributions to the way things work.

Before we start, we want to thank Melkon Hovhannisyan and the rest of the team at Kiwi for their open source contributions to SpiffArena. We are honored to work with you.

SpiffWorks Analytics

Get a live view of the most critical workflows in your organization with our new Analytics Server, including:

  • Major milestones for every current job.
  • Heat maps that reveal bottlenecks in real time.
  • Long-term trends that answer two questions: Are you meeting your SLAs? Where is the next opportunity to improve efficiency?

The analytics engine brings real-time analytics to deployments of SpiffWorkflow and SpiffArena. Watch a brief intro video.

Workflows for Teams

We are making workflow development better for teams. Along with the new Analytics Server, we improved file sharing and added collaborative editing of diagrams in our Visual Design Studio (Ed).

The Visual Design Studio now works on mobile and tablet devices, so you can take your reviews onto the plant floor and collaborate live with teammates back in the office.

SpiffArena received an in-depth Section 508 accessibility audit, which led to a contrast-compliant color scheme, keyboard navigation, and screen reader support. AXE scanning is now part of our continuous testing process, and an ACR report is available in our public repository.

Better Tests

Effective collaboration requires great tests. Automated tests run as an integral part of your continuous integration (CI), and we can help you generate tests that exercise every possible path through your workflow. This month we made those tests run faster and improved the reports and feedback loops.

Use deterministic code to check every path, AI to populate forms, and expert review from responsible people to confirm that critical cases produce the correct outcomes.

Better Security

As LLMs continue to improve, we are keeping a close eye on security patches. We use Trivy for security scanning and act on its reports to protect our system against emerging vulnerabilities as they are published.

Better Documentation, Fewer Bugs

We improved the documentation for the open source SpiffArena code base, fixing broken links and covering our event endpoints and connector proxy protocols. We also fixed bugs in SpiffArena, Analytics, and the Visual Design Studio.

New Articles

September brought two new articles on our Substack:

  • Make Haste Slowly — the question isn't whether you use AI, but how you apply it.
  • What we do to the web, we do to ourselves — the value of collaboration should not be lost in the race to adopt AI.
